Confirming completion
When your tradesperson marks the job as complete, TruePro notifies you and a 2-business-day window opens for you to review and release payment. This article explains what to check, how to leave a review, and what happens if you do nothing.
What to check before releasing payment
Before submitting your review, walk through the work carefully:
- Does the job match what was quoted and agreed? Check the scope of work in the original quote.
- Is the work complete — no half-finished sections left?
- Has the site been cleaned up and left tidy?
- If parts or materials were used, do they look correct and properly fitted?
- Test anything that should work — turn on taps, run the geyser, switch on a circuit.
- Review the completion photos uploaded by the tradesperson on your job page.
How to review and release payment
- Open your job status link (sent to you by email or WhatsApp).
- Click "Review and release payment →".
- Select a star rating from 1 to 5.
- Leave an optional comment (required if rating is 1 or 2 stars).
- Choose whether the tradesperson may show completion photos from this job on their public profile (checked by default — untick if you'd rather they didn't).
- Click "Submit review →".
- Payment is released to the tradesperson immediately.
If something went wrong
Select 1 or 2 stars and an issue section will expand. Fill in:
- What went wrong — choose all categories that apply.
- What outcome you want — e.g. a partial refund, or for the work to be redone.
- Evidence photos — up to 5 photos to support your case.
Submitting a low-rating review automatically opens a resolution case. The tradesperson has 48 hours to respond. See "How to report an issue" for more detail on the resolution process.
Skipping the review
If you prefer not to leave a review, tap "Release payment and skip review" at the bottom of the form (this also has its own photo-consent checkbox). Payment is released immediately and a 14-day window opens for you to leave a review later if you change your mind.
The 2-business-day auto-release
If you do not review or report an issue within 2 South African business days of the job being marked complete, TruePro automatically releases payment to the tradesperson. This prevents indefinite payment holds when you are unavailable or have forgotten. You will receive a reminder notification before this happens.
What if the job is only partially done?
Do not release payment if the work is not finished. Instead, message the tradesperson through the platform to ask them to return and finish. If they do not respond within a reasonable time, use the review form to report an issue — a TruePro admin can adjudicate and issue a partial refund if warranted.
