How reviews work
TruePro reviews are different from Google or Facebook reviews — they can only be left by customers who actually paid for a completed job on the platform. This means every review you read is from a real customer who went through the same process as you. No anonymous reviews, no fake ratings.
When can you leave a review?
Your review is submitted as part of releasing payment — you rate the job on the same form you use to release funds. If you skip the review when releasing payment, or if the 2-business-day auto-release fires, a 14-day window opens to come back and leave a review. After 14 days, the review window closes permanently.
What the star ratings cover
You rate the tradesperson on four separate aspects, plus an overall score:
- Quality of work — was the work done to a good standard?
- Reliability — did they turn up when agreed, finish within the expected timeframe, and do what they said they would?
- Communication — did they keep you informed, respond promptly, and explain things clearly?
- Tidiness — did they leave the site clean and tidy after the work was done?
- Overall rating — your overall impression of the tradesperson.
Each is rated from 1 to 5 stars. You can also leave a written comment — this is optional but genuinely helpful to other homeowners.
Adding photos to your review
You can attach up to four photos to your review to show the completed work. Photos appear on the tradesperson's public profile alongside your written review, giving future customers a real-world view of the quality. JPEG, PNG, and HEIC formats are accepted, up to 20 MB per photo. Photos are entirely optional.
Why there are no anonymous reviews
Anonymous reviews cannot be verified and are easily abused — by competitors leaving fake negative reviews or by pros posting fake positives. On TruePro, every review is linked to a real, verified transaction. The tradesperson can see who left the review, which keeps things honest on both sides.
Can a review be removed?
TruePro will only remove a review if it contains clearly defamatory content, personal information, or is found to be fraudulent. Honest reviews — even negative ones — are permanent. Tradespeople are expected to respond professionally to feedback rather than request removal.
How reviews affect a trust score
Your review contributes to the tradesperson's trust score. The four sub-ratings are weighted: Quality of work carries the most weight (40%), followed by Reliability (35%), Communication (15%), and Tidiness (10%). A single review has less impact than a pattern of reviews over many jobs — one bad job does not unfairly destroy a good pro's record, and one glowing review cannot artificially inflate it.
