Tracking your job
Once your job is posted, you can follow its progress through every stage on TruePro. Each status tells you exactly where things stand, and you can message your tradesperson directly through the platform at any point.
Job statuses explained
- Open — your job has been posted and is visible to verified tradespeople in your area. You are waiting for quotes.
- Quoted — at least one tradesperson has sent you a quote. You can view and compare quotes.
- Accepted — you have accepted a quote and your payment is protected. The tradesperson has been notified and will contact you to arrange a date and time.
- Scheduled — a date and time for the work has been agreed and confirmed by both sides.
- Active — the tradesperson has marked themselves as on their way or has arrived. Work is underway.
- Completed — the tradesperson has marked the job done and uploaded their completion evidence (photos and notes). You have 2 SA business days to review and release payment.
- Paid — you have reviewed and released payment (or the 2-business-day auto-release has passed) and payment has been released to the tradesperson.
- In resolution — an issue has been reported. Payment is held until the case is resolved by the TruePro team.
Your secure job link
Every job has a unique, secure link that only you and the assigned tradesperson can access. You can bookmark this link to check in on your job without logging in. Do not share this link with anyone else.
Confirming your appointment
If your tradesperson added you as an existing client and logged the job directly (rather than you posting it on TruePro), they may ask you to confirm the appointment time yourself — this can happen at any point, even before they've sent you a quote (for example, a call-out job where they need to see the problem before pricing it). If so, you'll see a Confirm button next to the appointment on your job page — click it once the time works for you. If it doesn't, use "Request a different time" instead (see below). Until you confirm, the appointment shows as pending — your tradesperson can see this too. If you haven't confirmed after a while, you'll get a reminder email (and SMS) — if it still goes unanswered, the proposed time is dropped and your tradesperson is notified to follow up with you directly.
Requesting a different appointment time
If you need to change your appointment, go to your job status page (your secure job link) and click "Request a different time" next to the appointment you want to reschedule. You will be asked to choose one of two options:
- Request a different time (keep appointment if we can't agree) — your existing appointment stays confirmed while you and the tradesperson agree on a new time. If no agreement is reached, the original appointment stands.
- Cancel appointment and request a new one — the appointment is cancelled immediately. A replacement time must be agreed with your tradesperson before work can proceed. Because you have already paid, you cannot withdraw from the job — a new time must be arranged.
After choosing, you will see a calendar showing your tradesperson's schedule. Tap or click any free slot to propose that time. You can propose multiple times — just keep clicking slots. Each proposed time appears on the calendar as a dashed block. Tap × on a proposed time to remove it. You can also browse to different days using the Prev / Next buttons. The calendar shows:
- Times when your tradesperson already has appointments (shown as "Appointment" — no other customer's details are visible)
- Times that are blocked (shown as "Blocked")
- Your tradesperson's business hours (times outside them are greyed out)
- If there are multiple teams, each team's lane is shown separately — you can propose a time for a different team if you would like flexibility on who does the work
Add an optional message (for example, "Mornings work better for me"), then click "Send reschedule request". Your tradesperson will receive a notification and can accept one of your proposed times, decline, or propose their own alternative times in return.
All proposals, counter-proposals, and responses appear as cards in the message thread on your job status page, so you always have a clear record of what was agreed.
Your tradesperson can also propose a new time to you, not just the other way around — for example if something comes up on their end. If that happens, you'll get an email as well as a notification, with a link straight back to your job status page so you can pick one of their proposed times or decline.
Whoever's turn it is to respond gets a reminder email after 48 hours if there's been no response yet. If it still goes unanswered, the request expires closer to the proposed time: a "keep appointment" request just drops and your original time stands, while a "cancel and request a new one" request leaves the appointment cancelled and your tradesperson is notified to follow up with you directly.
Choosing a time for an extra appointment
Sometimes a tradesperson needs to return for a follow-up visit — to fit a part that needed ordering, complete a second stage, or do an inspection. When this happens, your tradesperson will send you an appointment request showing the time slots they have available.
You will receive a notification and the request will appear on your job status page (your secure job link). The page shows the proposed times grouped by date. Tap your preferred time to select it. If the job requires more than one visit, keep selecting times until you have chosen enough — the page tells you how many you need to pick. Once you have chosen, click "Confirm".
If none of the proposed times suit you, use the message thread to let your tradesperson know and they can propose new times.
How to message your tradesperson
- Open your job from the dashboard or your secure job link.
- Scroll to the messages section at the bottom of the job page.
- Type your message and press send. The tradesperson will receive an email and SMS notification.
All communication on TruePro is recorded and can be used as evidence if an issue arises. For this reason, keep important conversations on the platform rather than moving them to WhatsApp or phone calls.
