Managing crew members without TruePro accounts
Many trade businesses include workers who do not have a smartphone, email address, or TruePro account. TruePro's crew member feature lets you add these workers to your business so they appear on job pages, route plans, and customer communications — all managed through you or your dispatcher.
What is a crew member?
A crew member is a worker on your team who does not have their own TruePro account. They might be a labourer, apprentice, assistant, or subcontractor who works alongside a registered technician or dispatcher. Crew members are:
- Added and managed by the business owner, dispatcher, or lead technician.
- Assigned to jobs the same way technicians are.
- Shown by name on the customer's job page.
- Shown on the route planner alongside the job they are assigned to.
Crew members do not log in to TruePro. All information flows through the dispatcher or team lead who is responsible for the job.
Adding a crew member
- Go to Team in the navigation.
- Click "Add crew member".
- Enter their first name (required) and last name (optional).
- Optionally add their SA ID number, a photo of their ID document, and a face photo.
- Add any notes that help your team — for example, languages spoken or skills.
- Click "Add crew member".
The crew member now appears in your team list and can be assigned to jobs.
Identity verification and the trust badge
When you upload a crew member's SA ID number, ID document photo, and a face photo, TruePro reviews the submission (usually within 1 business day). Once verified, a verified badge appears next to the crew member's name on the customer's job page.
This is especially important for crew members who enter customers' homes. The verified badge tells the customer: "This person has been identified by the business owner and confirmed by TruePro."
Identity submission is optional. Unverified crew members still appear on the job page by name but without the verified badge.
Assigning crew members to jobs
- Open a job from Jobs.
- In the "Crew on this job" panel, select a crew member from the dropdown and click "Add".
- Repeat for each crew member working on this job.
You can remove a crew member from a job at any time before it is completed.
Crew members on the route planner
The route planner shows routes for registered technicians and dispatchers. When a crew member is assigned to a job, their name appears on that job's card in the route planner. The crew member travels with the assigned technician or dispatcher — they do not have a separate route.
Removing a crew member
To remove a crew member from your active team, go to Team → [crew member name] → Remove from crew. They will no longer appear in the crew member list or be available for new job assignments. Their history on past jobs is retained.
