Capturing a customer signature on-site
Capturing a customer signature on-site
TruePro lets you collect a legally-significant digital sign-off from the customer at the moment you complete a job — directly on your mobile device. No paper, no chasing, no arguments about whether the work was accepted.
What is the signature step?
When on-site signature is enabled for a job, a signature canvas appears in your mobile workflow just before you mark the job complete. The customer signs on-screen with their finger; the signature is stored securely and attached to the job record. You cannot mark the job complete without it.
Who controls the signature requirement?
- Account default — business owners can switch on "Require customer on-site signature by default" under Availability & settings. All new jobs will inherit this setting.
- Per-job override — dispatchers and owners can toggle the requirement on or off for any individual job from the job detail page, up until the job is completed.
How the technician captures the signature
- Open the job in the technician app and complete the normal workflow — arrive, notes, WIP photos.
- In the "Mark job complete" section you will see a Customer signature box.
- Hand your device to the customer and ask them to sign with their finger in the box. The placeholder text disappears once they start signing.
- If they make a mistake, tap Clear and let them sign again.
- Upload your completion photo(s), then tap Mark complete →.
If you try to submit without a signature when one is required, you will see an alert and the job status will not change.
Where is the signature stored?
The signature is saved as an image file attached to the job record. Owners and dispatchers can see it on the job detail page under "Customer sign-off". It is also available on the invoice and compliance record for that job.
Tips for a smooth sign-off
- Brief the customer before handing over the device — "just sign to confirm the work is done."
- Use a stylus if available; finger signatures work fine but a stylus gives a cleaner result.
- Make sure the screen brightness is high enough for the customer to see clearly.
- If the customer refuses to sign, note this in the job notes and take a completion photo together with the customer.
