Getting started as a technician
As a technician on TruePro, your job is straightforward: show up, do great work, and document it. TruePro gives you a simple mobile interface to see your assigned jobs, update your status as you work, and upload photos as evidence. This article explains your role and how to get started.
Your role as a technician
Technicians are the people who do the work in the field. On TruePro, you are an employee or subcontractor of a trades business. Your business owner or dispatcher assigns jobs to you, sets appointment times, and handles customer communications. Your job on the platform is to execute those jobs and record what you do.
What you can see
When you log in to TruePro, you will see only the jobs assigned to you — not all jobs in the business. Each job shows:
- The customer's first name and the job address.
- The appointment date and time.
- The job description and scope of work from the accepted quote.
- Any notes from your dispatcher.
Accepting your invitation and signing in
Your business owner or dispatcher creates your account by sending you an invitation email from TruePro. Here is what to do:
- Open the email from TruePro with the subject "You've been invited to join [Business Name] on TruePro".
- Click "Accept invitation →" in the email. This takes you to TruePro and shows you the business name and role you are being invited into.
- Click "Accept invitation" on the page to start creating your account.
- Fill in your details — name, email address, cellphone number, and a password. Your email address will be pre-filled from the invitation.
- Click "Create account". Because you clicked the invitation link, your email is already verified — no confirmation email is needed.
- Verify your identity — enter your SA ID number and upload a photo of your ID document and a selfie holding it. This takes about a minute and is required before you can be assigned to customer jobs.
- Sign the platform agreement — read the agreement, type your full name, and draw your signature. This covers your responsibilities on the platform.
- You will land on your jobs page and are ready to go.
You can sign in on any smartphone browser — go to the TruePro website and log in. No app download is required.
Why we verify your identity
TruePro shows customers a verified badge on job pages so they know who is coming to their home. Your ID is verified by TruePro's team (not shared with customers) and only your name and verified status appear on the job page. Identity verification protects both you and the customer.
The mobile workflow
TruePro is designed to work well on a phone screen. The technician interface uses large buttons and a simple flow — accept job, mark en route, mark arrived, upload photos, mark complete. See "Technician mobile workflow" for the full step-by-step guide.
Your day-of job reminders
You don't need to check the app first thing to know what's on today. If you have any confirmed jobs today, TruePro sends you one in-app notification early in the morning and one summary email around 6:30am listing all of them — not a separate message per job. If a job gets added to your day after that email has already gone out, you'll get a one-off notification just for that job.
Getting help
If you have questions about a specific job — what is included, what the customer expects, where to park — message your dispatcher, not the customer directly. The dispatcher is responsible for customer communications. If there is an emergency on-site, call your dispatcher first.
