The mobile job workflow
The technician mobile workflow is the sequence of steps you follow on TruePro from the moment you start your day to the moment you complete a job. Each step updates the job status so your dispatcher and the customer can see what is happening in real time. Follow these steps for every job.
How jobs appear on your dashboard
Your dashboard shows today's appointments for any job you're linked to — whether your dispatcher added you to the team assigned to that appointment, assigned you directly to the job from the job page, or added you as a co-technician. Jobs are listed in appointment time order. Tap a job to see the full details — address, scope of work, and any notes from your dispatcher.
If you have no appointments today, tomorrow's appointments are shown so you can plan ahead.
Step-by-step mobile flow
- Mark "En route". When you leave for the job, tap "Mark en route". The customer receives a notification that you are on your way. Do this when you actually leave, not an hour earlier. This timestamp is recorded against your specific appointment.
- Mark "Arrived". When you pull up at the property, tap "Mark arrived". Take your arrival photos now — before you touch anything. See "Technician photos and evidence" for guidance on what to photograph. Your arrival time is recorded on the appointment and the job moves to "Active" status so your dispatcher can see work has started.
- Do the work. Complete the job as per the accepted quote and scope. If you encounter something unexpected — additional work required, access problems, dangerous conditions — phone your dispatcher immediately rather than deciding on your own.
- Upload work-in-progress photos. For complex jobs, upload photos while the work is in progress. This is especially important for anything that will be hidden once complete — pipework behind walls, electrical connections inside panels, and so on.
- Take completion photos. Before you pack up, photograph the completed work from multiple angles. Get a wide shot showing the full area and close-ups of key details.
- Mark "Complete". Tap "Mark complete". You will be prompted to confirm your completion photos are uploaded and to add a short completion note. Write what was done — be factual and specific. Your completion note is stored against this appointment and shared with the customer.
- Mark "Departed". Once done, tap "Mark departed" to record your departure time and return to your jobs list.
What happens after you mark complete
The customer is notified that the job has been marked complete and a 2-business-day window opens for them to review and release payment. Your dispatcher can see the job is done and the completion evidence you uploaded.
If there are additional appointments still scheduled for this job (for example, a follow-up visit or a multi-day installation), the job stays "Active" — it only moves to "Completed" when you mark the last remaining appointment complete.
Multi-visit jobs
Some jobs require more than one visit — for example, a repair that needs a part ordered, or a large installation spread over two days. Each visit appears as a separate appointment on your dashboard on the day it is scheduled. For each visit, follow the same workflow: mark en route, mark arrived, upload photos, and add notes. The job moves to "Completed" only after you mark the final appointment complete.
Working with no signal
If you're on a job with no mobile signal or data — a basement, a rural property, a bad reception area — you can keep working normally. It helps to install TruePro to your home screen first (look for "Install app" in the menu, or your browser's "Add to Home Screen" option) so it opens instantly even with no connection. When you tap a button like "Mark en route" or "Mark complete" with no connection:
- A message tells you the action has been queued — it's saved on your phone, not lost.
- A banner at the bottom of the screen shows you're offline and how many actions are still waiting to send.
- You can keep working — add notes, take photos — and each one queues the same way.
As soon as your phone regains a connection, everything queued sends automatically — no need to redo anything. You'll get a confirmation for each one, including whether the customer was notified (important for "en route", since that's what tells the customer you're on your way — if you're queued while offline, they won't know until you're back online and it actually sends).
If something you queued can't be applied once you're back online — for example, your dispatcher added a required form while you were offline — you'll be told that step needs to be redone rather than it silently failing.
One thing to know: if you go offline before marking arrival, you won't be able to queue later steps (notes, photos, marking complete) until arrival has actually synced — those only appear once the app can confirm you've arrived. If you're already past arrival when you lose signal, everything from there (notes, photos, completing, departing) queues normally.
