Managing your profile
Your TruePro profile is the first thing homeowners see when they compare quotes. A complete, professional profile significantly increases the likelihood that your quote will be accepted. This article explains how to update your profile and keep your information current.
Business description
Your business description should tell homeowners who you are, how long you have been trading, and what makes you different. Keep it clear and honest — avoid marketing buzzwords. A good description might mention your years of experience, any certifications or trade body memberships, the types of jobs you specialise in, and your service approach.
To update your description: go to Profile > Edit profile and update the "About your business" section.
Trading since year
During onboarding you can declare the year your business started trading. If you entered a recent year (within the last two years) it is displayed on your public profile immediately. If you declared an older year, TruePro reviews it against your business registration and join date before publishing it — you will be notified once it is approved. The "Trading since [year]" line on your profile reassures homeowners that they are dealing with an established business.
Your public profile page
Every pro on TruePro gets a personal public profile page at truepro.co.za/pro/your-slug. This page is designed to serve as your business website — you can share the link with customers, add it to your email signature, or use it on social media. To set up your page, go to Public profile in your navigation menu.
From the public profile settings you can:
- Choose your page URL (e.g.
truepro.co.za/pro/plumbpro-sa). Your URL is permanent once set — choose carefully. - Upload your business logo. If your logo already shows your business name, you can tick the box under it to hide the separate business name title on your page.
- Select a brand colour for your page header.
- Add a public phone number and email address so customers can contact you directly.
- Link your website, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter/X pages.
Your page automatically shows your trust badges, review score, trade categories, service area, and before/after photos from completed jobs (where customers have given consent). Customers can also click "Get a quote" directly from your page, which pre-fills you as the preferred pro in their job request — you'll be invited first, and you're guaranteed the chance to quote even if the job's usual quote limit is reached before you respond.
Brands & equipment
Under Public profile you can list the brands you install or service, and any specialist equipment you use, for each of your service categories (e.g. Electrical, Solar, Air Conditioning). Type a brand or equipment name and press Enter to add it as a tag — click the × on a tag to remove it. These show as neat tags under "What we do" on your mini-site, grouped by category if you offer more than one.
Verifying your website and social links
To stop anyone from listing a website or social page that isn't really theirs, your website, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter/X links are only shown on your mini-site once TruePro has verified them. Saving a link on your Public profile page already queues it for us to check — there's nothing else you need to do to get it reviewed. A "Verify your links" section then appears below the save button so you can tell us once it's actually in place: for each link, add your TruePro mini-site address to the matching spot:
- Website — add the link anywhere on your homepage.
- Facebook — add it in your Page's About > Details > "Links" section.
- Instagram — add it in your bio's "Website" field.
- Twitter/X — add it in your bio's "Website" field.
Then click Link added to let us know it's ready to check — this doesn't change anything on its own, it just helps us know when it's worth looking. Once we verify it, the link goes live on your mini-site. If you never click it, or if we check and can't find the link, we'll email you a friendly reminder with instructions — just add the link and click "Link added" again.
Facebook tip: paste your Page's URL from your browser's address bar (e.g. facebook.com/yourbusiness) — not a link copied from the Share button in the Facebook mobile app. Those "share" links are temporary and often won't open correctly for people who click them outside the Facebook app, which is also why we ask for the address-bar link rather than a share link for the Facebook button on your mini-site.
Recent work — automatic before & after showcase
When a customer confirms that a job is complete, they're asked whether they consent to sharing photos and their review from that job publicly. Consent is given by default — customers who object can uncheck the option before confirming. If consent is given, the job appears as a card in the Recent work section of your public profile: the arrival photo your technician took (before) and the completion photo (after), the customer's own photos from their original request, and their review — all shown automatically, with nothing for you to upload or arrange. If the customer opts out, that job is excluded entirely.
You don't need to do anything to make this work — it's on by default and requires no maintenance. If you'd rather a particular job not appear (for example, sensitive or unflattering photos), open that job's page and untick Show this job on my public profile under "Public profile visibility" — you can also add a short caption there. To switch the whole section off, go to Public profile > Recent work and untick Automatically show recent work on my mini-site.
Profile video
You can upload a short video to the top of your public profile — a brief introduction to your business or a showcase of your past work. Profiles with a video stand out and build trust faster than photos alone. Keep it under 60 seconds for the best experience. Accepted formats: MP4 and MOV, up to 100 MB. To upload or replace your video, go to Profile video in your navigation menu.
Photos
Uploading photos of your past work is one of the most effective ways to build trust with potential customers. Show before-and-after shots, completed installations, or your team at work. Good-quality phone photos are fine — you do not need professional photography. Aim for at least five photos to give homeowners a real sense of your work. This Gallery is separate from the automatic Recent work section described above — Gallery is photos you choose to upload yourself, Recent work builds itself from your completed jobs.
Under Public profile > Gallery, click Choose photos to select several at once — you'll see a thumbnail preview of everything you've picked before you click Upload, and you can remove one from the selection before uploading if you change your mind. Use the ↑/↓ arrows on an already-uploaded photo to reorder your gallery, and add or edit a caption on any photo at any time using the text field under it.
Under Public profile > Your services, each service card can have its own photo too. If you've already uploaded photos to your gallery, you don't need to upload the same one again — click Choose from gallery next to a service to pick one of your existing photos instead, or Upload new if you'd rather add a fresh one. You can change a service's photo at any time by clicking Change photo.
Trade body accreditations
If you are a member of a recognised South African trade body — such as IOPSA (plumbers), ECASA (electrical contractors), or PIRB (roofers) — you can add your membership to your profile. Go to Profile > Accreditations and upload your membership certificate. The TruePro team verifies the document and, once approved, displays a blue badge on your profile. These badges signal professionalism and give homeowners additional confidence.
Service areas
Your service areas determine which leads you receive. Keep them accurate — if you add areas you cannot realistically reach, you will receive leads you cannot service and your response rate will drop. To update your service areas, go to Business Settings > Service area.
When you pick "Specific areas," start typing a place name and choose from the suggestions — you can add a single significant town, a whole city, a province, or a named group of areas (e.g. picking "Pretoria" covers every suburb in Pretoria; picking "Gauteng" covers the whole province). Only suggestions from the dropdown are accepted, so every area you add is a real, matchable place. The list of suggestions is a curated set of larger, well-known areas rather than every small suburb in the country — if you want to cover a broad area while steering clear of a specific no-go or high-crime suburb within it, build your coverage from a few smaller picks instead of one broad one (e.g. pick the surrounding towns individually rather than the whole city).
If you choose Radius from base instead of a list of suburbs, that radius is measured from your business address. Add or update it under Business Settings > Business address — if it's missing, you won't be matched to any leads on radius mode, since TruePro has nowhere to measure the distance from.
If you operate from more than one location, this is your default service area — it automatically applies to your main business address and to any other branch you haven't set a service area for individually. If a second branch covers a different part of the country, go to Branches, open that branch, and set its own service area there instead of relying on the default — otherwise it falls back to a flat 70km radius (or your default radius, if your default is radius-based) from that branch's address.
Insurance renewal
Your public liability insurance certificate has an expiry date. TruePro will notify you 30 days before it expires. When you renew your policy, upload the new certificate through Profile > Verification documents. If your insurance lapses and is not renewed, your Insured badge is removed and a warning appears on your public profile until a new certificate is uploaded and approved.
If you upload a PDF certificate, make sure it is not password-protected — TruePro's verification team needs to open it to check your policy details, and a locked PDF will be rejected on upload. If your insurer emailed you a locked PDF, remove the password before uploading (most PDF viewers can save an unlocked copy once you have entered the password) or upload a clear photo of the certificate instead.
Trust badge display
Your TruePro profile shows one of these core badges, depending on how far your verification has progressed:
- Listed on TruePro / Company Verified — you're live on TruePro on your business details alone (sole trader, or a registered company with your CIPC number checked), before you've submitted personal ID.
- Identity Verified — your SA ID has been confirmed by the TruePro team.
- Fully Verified — your identity and banking details have both been confirmed. Every claim you made during registration has been checked.
Plus one independent badge that can appear alongside any of the above:
- Insured — you carry verified public liability insurance. This badge is separate from Fully Verified. You can be Fully Verified without insurance. Insured pros rank highest in customer searches and score up to 23 bonus trust points.
Badges are displayed automatically on your profile once each check is approved. You cannot add or remove them manually — they reflect what the TruePro team has verified. Homeowners place significant weight on these badges when choosing between tradespeople.
Downloading a badge for your own website
You can add a badge for each verification you currently hold to your own website or social media — go to the Badges page (in the main navigation, and linked from Business Settings). For each badge you've earned, you can copy a ready-to-paste embed code (links back to your TruePro profile when clicked), download the badge as an image file if your site only accepts image uploads, or share it straight to your Facebook Business page. TruePro sends you an in-app notification the moment you earn a new badge, linking straight to this page.
Badges show the year you copied or downloaded them, not the year you were originally verified — for verifications that don't expire (like being Listed or Identity Verified), you can grab a badge with the current year any time. For verifications that do expire (Insurance Verified, and accreditation badges), you can only get a badge with the current year while that verification is still valid — if it lapses, come back and re-verify to get a current one again.
